7 Weeks

7 weeks old...can you believe it. Nate has come so far in his 7 weeks of life. He is so much more alert now. He is laughing and smiling. Life just gets better and better each and every week. In his 7 weeks he finally met his Aunt Jess and Uncle Kevin and little baby cousin to be. I think Nate kicked him a few times just to let him know he's the older cousin so he's the boss. He is discovering toys, still playing with his hands and is always staring at his favorite purple hippopotamus. He still doesn't sleep through the night but if he is wearing the proper sleeping outfit we usually get in a good 4-5hrs of sleep at a time. Today he had an ice cream playdate with his girlfriend, Cadence. They had a great time! I guess they will probably enjoy it more when they can actually eat the ice cream. :) We are getting so excited for the arrival home of his Daddy!! Not much longer and our little family will finally be together again! Woo hoo, we can't wait. Well, that's all for now. It's our bedtime.

6 Weeks and Counting!

Nate and I are currently sitting here watching the Gator game. He is wide awake and bright-eyed. He is now 6 weeks old...can you believe it? We can't. Well, to reflect back on the week. Nate had his first big laugh. It was so cute and he actually had it in his sleep. It must have been some great dream that he was having. He's also starting to smile at Mommy...so sweet. I just can't get enough of the little man.

We have booked the house in Orlando that we are going to stay in. We are all so excited for Nate's first trip to Disney World. It's going to be such a great time. I can't wait for all of the fun things that we will do....too bad Nate probably won't remember any of it but we will have pictures to show him one day.

We went to the doctor's office twice this week. We went the first time just to have Nate weighed. When I took him for his one month check up they said he weighed 12lbs. When I was driving home I was thinking that there is no way he gained 5lbs in 2 weeks. I thought something definitely had to be wrong because that seemed outrageous to me. So I took him back in just to get weighed and he weighed 9.2lbs. So, yes, Brian, scales do lie! But it does concern me that the doctor didn't say anything about the dramatic weight gain. And, of course, now his growth charts are going to be all messed up and it's just going to be a big ordeal. I was finally able to make his two month appointment after calling the Naval Hospital everyday for approximately 2 weeks...what a pain. But at least he has an appointment now. It is supposed to be with the best ped. at Mayport so if we don't like her I think we will definitely be changing insurance and going off base.

Nate and I have been reading a lot lately. We read The 8th Confession by James Patterson last week and this week we are reading Twenties Girl. He enjoys listening to them and at this point it doesn't matter what I read to him so it's nice because I get my reading done. The next book we read together will be the book I'm reading for the book club I joined. So excited! I hope Nate enjoys reading time as much as I do.

We haven't had the chance to go on many walks lately. This time of year is the hardest because it's starting to get dark earlier and it's still too hot to go during the day. Plus we saw a rattlesnake on a walk so that freaked me out a bit and I'm not sure that we have been since. But I'm hoping we get to go at least 3 times this week.

Nate is really starting to enjoy his baths. Well, I don't know that he enjoys them but he doesn't scream when I give them to him. He really only did that the first time now he just lays there wide-eyed thinking hurry up because I'm freezing. He makes the cutest faces while in the bath!

Oh and at Nate's next appointment he will be getting his first set of shots and Brian and I will both be getting our flu and swine flu shots...ugh, I hate shots!

On a side note, I have started my milk collection. Incase I do go back to work Nate will still be able to be breastfed which is really important to me so that makes me happy.

Well, that's all for now. See everyone soon!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Today is Brian's Birthday!! Unfortunately we are not able to spend the day with him. But we did want him to know that we are thinking of him. Nate and I did a mini photo shoot with Katelyn and she got this super cute shot of him in Brian's uniform. And luckily, he didn't even spit up in the uniform! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!!
We love you and miss you!

Here We Go Steeler's...

Nate was all decked out in his Steeler's gear for the big game tonight!! I hope, for Brian's sake, that this second picture isn't a reflection of how he feels about the team.

It's Labor Day and Nate is One Month Old!

I can't believe how fast this month has flown by. Our baby boy is one month old already. How sweet that it's on Labor Day! We were decked out in our red, white and blue as we celebrated with friends. Nate and I enjoyed a small gathering with friends- actually it was the family of another LT in Brian's unit. We enjoyed kabobs and good company. Nate enjoyed a little sunshine but he did sleep almost the whole time we were there. What can I say? The boy likes to sleep...during the day! Here is a picture of the cute little man on his one month birthday!!

Mommy and Me Walks

Nate and I are on a mission to get back in shape and lose all those extra pregnancy pounds. Well, I'm on a mission he's just along for the ride. Nate and I go for a daily walk around the neighborhood in his jogging stroller. (We aren't supposed to be jogging yet- that is still to come in the future.) He just loves to go for the ride. He falls asleep early in our walk and sleeps the whole way. For me, the best thing is seeing Nate when we go over a bump. He is sound asleep but throws his arms up in the air like we are on a roller coaster. It's so funny! I will attempt to get a picture of this but I don't think it will happen. This week we walked two miles everyday. Next week we will probably do our "loop" twice and walk 4 miles everyday. It doesn't seem like much of a workout but when you haven't worked out in 9 months it's ok for now. But I definitely need to up my game soon. By the time Brian comes back we should be at about 10 miles everyday. Hopefully the weather holds up for us- living in Florida we definitely have to choose the right time to walk. We are looking forward to the day when we can start jogging hopefully by the time Brian comes home. We will see what the doctor says. Oh, and on a side note- pushing a stroller while you are walking is a workout in itself...those things get heavy!! But we will continue our workouts and doing what we can. Every little bit helps! My goal is to fit into my dress by Brian's yellow ribbon event that we have to go to and to be able to run Gate River Run in March so I need to start training for that. Oh and I'm still debating coaching Girls on the Run this year. I will make that decision this week. Let me know if anyone is up for a walk...I love company.

Grandma and Me

Grandma came to visit Nate this week. We had fun together. She called herself about a million different names. I guess she wanted to give him options of what to call her. LOL, it was funny! I believe Grandma really enjoyed her time with Nate. She attempted to spoil him as much as possible although mom had a different idea about this. But she was HUGE help with both Nate and Dolce and Luigi. We went the entire week with only two or three indoor doggie accidents. YEAH!! (Sadly, this is very good for us.) Grandma also gave Nate all of his baths for the week. He enjoys bathtime now- so much better than his first bath. She got spit up on a few times, and changed plenty of diapers while she was here. We were also able to get a good bit of things done around the house. We made food to freeze so I can just throw it in the oven next week. Cooking food ahead of time is actually pretty fun! Today, we will make banana nut bread...yum. All in all it was a great week. Nate got to see his grandma and mom got to get a little bit of rest. Thank you G-ma!

Wow time flies, I'm 4 weeks old already!
