FL-GA and Halloween

Brian got us tickets to the FL-GA football game this year which was very exciting. FL-GA was on Halloween so we were of course given the task of finding a babysitter for the day. This actually turned out to be an easier task than one would think. Our fabulous neighbors offered to watch the little man for us. So Nate spent the day with Mike and Sherie while Brian and I spent the day drinking beers and enjoying the football game. This was really the first time that we (well, I) have been away from Nate for an extended period of time. I think I did pretty good. I only texted once! Although I did give lots of instructions before we left and Sherie's Dad told me if I didn't leave already that he was going to go in my place, lol. Nate seemed to have a good time and he slept for 8 hours straight that night so I told Mike and Sherie they are allowed to watch him whenever they want!! :) Nate dressed up as a spider for Halloween although we didn't do any trick-or-treating. It was late when we got back from the game and we went over to a friends house later that night so Nate could see his girlfriend. But I did put him in his costume and he sure was one cute little spider!! :)

October Updates

I know, I know I have really been slacking on this blog posting! But things around here have been a bit crazy and very busy. So I will recap our month of October in one nice LONG blog! :)

Brian's arrival home: Brian came home from Iraq for good on October 1st. It's so nice to finally have him home for good. We missed him so much. It was great seeing Brian hold sweet little Nate and for Nate to look into Brian's eyes. They are so cute together. Nate and I had to wait an hour or so at the hangar for them to get back but it was so worth the wait. We didn't get home until about 7:45 that night so it didn't leave much time for us to hang out. Just time to get home and eat dinner and go to bed because we were all exhausted.

Shots: Nate got his first set of shots this month. Brian and I were both so proud of him. He did really well. He cried when he got them but was a real trooper after the fact. We got him some Tylenol from the Pharmacy but he didn't even need it. Such a strong little boy he is. He still has one more shot that he has to get from this set. They didn't have the Hib shot so he is going to have to go back to get that one.

Grandparents visit: Nate's grandparents all came down to visit him. He seemed to have a good time while they were here. We did lots of stuff together like go to the beach, take walks and even visit Disney World.

Disney World: Disney was fun but a bit stressful with a baby. If I had to do it again...I wouldn't. Disney definitely screwed up Nathan's sleep pattern and I'm still trying to get him back on track. Hopefully one day soon he will be sleeping through the night. Nate got to see lots of people while at Disney...over stimulation for sure. He also got to meet some cool characters like Donald Duck (the Mexican version), Winnie the pooh, Tigger, Pinocchio, and Pluto. All in all, we had a good time. Brian and I will have to take Nate back when he is older and can actually enjoy and experience Disney.

7 Weeks

7 weeks old...can you believe it. Nate has come so far in his 7 weeks of life. He is so much more alert now. He is laughing and smiling. Life just gets better and better each and every week. In his 7 weeks he finally met his Aunt Jess and Uncle Kevin and little baby cousin to be. I think Nate kicked him a few times just to let him know he's the older cousin so he's the boss. He is discovering toys, still playing with his hands and is always staring at his favorite purple hippopotamus. He still doesn't sleep through the night but if he is wearing the proper sleeping outfit we usually get in a good 4-5hrs of sleep at a time. Today he had an ice cream playdate with his girlfriend, Cadence. They had a great time! I guess they will probably enjoy it more when they can actually eat the ice cream. :) We are getting so excited for the arrival home of his Daddy!! Not much longer and our little family will finally be together again! Woo hoo, we can't wait. Well, that's all for now. It's our bedtime.

6 Weeks and Counting!

Nate and I are currently sitting here watching the Gator game. He is wide awake and bright-eyed. He is now 6 weeks old...can you believe it? We can't. Well, to reflect back on the week. Nate had his first big laugh. It was so cute and he actually had it in his sleep. It must have been some great dream that he was having. He's also starting to smile at Mommy...so sweet. I just can't get enough of the little man.

We have booked the house in Orlando that we are going to stay in. We are all so excited for Nate's first trip to Disney World. It's going to be such a great time. I can't wait for all of the fun things that we will do....too bad Nate probably won't remember any of it but we will have pictures to show him one day.

We went to the doctor's office twice this week. We went the first time just to have Nate weighed. When I took him for his one month check up they said he weighed 12lbs. When I was driving home I was thinking that there is no way he gained 5lbs in 2 weeks. I thought something definitely had to be wrong because that seemed outrageous to me. So I took him back in just to get weighed and he weighed 9.2lbs. So, yes, Brian, scales do lie! But it does concern me that the doctor didn't say anything about the dramatic weight gain. And, of course, now his growth charts are going to be all messed up and it's just going to be a big ordeal. I was finally able to make his two month appointment after calling the Naval Hospital everyday for approximately 2 weeks...what a pain. But at least he has an appointment now. It is supposed to be with the best ped. at Mayport so if we don't like her I think we will definitely be changing insurance and going off base.

Nate and I have been reading a lot lately. We read The 8th Confession by James Patterson last week and this week we are reading Twenties Girl. He enjoys listening to them and at this point it doesn't matter what I read to him so it's nice because I get my reading done. The next book we read together will be the book I'm reading for the book club I joined. So excited! I hope Nate enjoys reading time as much as I do.

We haven't had the chance to go on many walks lately. This time of year is the hardest because it's starting to get dark earlier and it's still too hot to go during the day. Plus we saw a rattlesnake on a walk so that freaked me out a bit and I'm not sure that we have been since. But I'm hoping we get to go at least 3 times this week.

Nate is really starting to enjoy his baths. Well, I don't know that he enjoys them but he doesn't scream when I give them to him. He really only did that the first time now he just lays there wide-eyed thinking hurry up because I'm freezing. He makes the cutest faces while in the bath!

Oh and at Nate's next appointment he will be getting his first set of shots and Brian and I will both be getting our flu and swine flu shots...ugh, I hate shots!

On a side note, I have started my milk collection. Incase I do go back to work Nate will still be able to be breastfed which is really important to me so that makes me happy.

Well, that's all for now. See everyone soon!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Today is Brian's Birthday!! Unfortunately we are not able to spend the day with him. But we did want him to know that we are thinking of him. Nate and I did a mini photo shoot with Katelyn and she got this super cute shot of him in Brian's uniform. And luckily, he didn't even spit up in the uniform! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!!
We love you and miss you!

Here We Go Steeler's...

Nate was all decked out in his Steeler's gear for the big game tonight!! I hope, for Brian's sake, that this second picture isn't a reflection of how he feels about the team.

It's Labor Day and Nate is One Month Old!

I can't believe how fast this month has flown by. Our baby boy is one month old already. How sweet that it's on Labor Day! We were decked out in our red, white and blue as we celebrated with friends. Nate and I enjoyed a small gathering with friends- actually it was the family of another LT in Brian's unit. We enjoyed kabobs and good company. Nate enjoyed a little sunshine but he did sleep almost the whole time we were there. What can I say? The boy likes to sleep...during the day! Here is a picture of the cute little man on his one month birthday!!
